An Animation Writer's Decision - The Hero's Journey Versus Good Versus Evil

As a teacher of personality animation at the California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts) I used to teach my pupils about cartoon storytelling by breaking it down to the most fundamental components.

In cartoon there are two fundamental narrative structures for many movies. They are;

Most movies nowadays have the Good Versus Evil variety since they readily allow for the creation of a sequel or just a collection of sequels or perhaps prequels. This form is made up of fantastic man, the Hero, and a bad man, the Villain. The simple plot is that the fantastic man wants something, he's got a group goal and also the protagonist attempts to prevent him from attaining his objective. Or, the protagonist has a target and the protagonist attempts to prevent him from reaching hisobjective. It's not essential for the villain to perish in the conclusion of the narrative, in reality, it's detrimental to the possible film series to kill the villain. Instead he's only defeated or vanquished, promising to come back after revenge (in the sequel).
Some classic examples of Great Versus Hero animated movies are;
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - The first full length animated movie pitted sweet, innocent Snow White and her seven small guards from her stepmother, the Queen, that desired to kill her out of jealousy of her attractiveness.
Peter Pan - Missing boy Peter struggles nearly to the death with Captain Hook. Why is never entirely explained except at once Peter had cut off Hook's hand and fed it into the crocodile but they had been enemies already.
One Hundred and One Dalmatians - Dalmatian pet parents put out to recover their stolen litter of dogs wanted by wicked fashionista Cruella DeVille who simply wanted a fresh dog jacket.
For The Hero's Journey / The Adventures of narrative format a personality, typically hesitantly, embarks on a quest or journey and considerably changes throughout the course of this narrative. A boy becomes a man, a coward becomes a fanatic, an elephant learns to flysomething occurs that affects the personality forever. Even though this is a traditional form it's more difficult to make sequels from using this format because the character moving through a change essentially is the narrative and after that has happened it's tough to produce more changes. Hercules is a good illustration of a narrative that dealt with his problem by creating the Disney television show variant a prequel. We see the personality before he began his experiences that result in his becoming a fanatic.
Pinocchio - A puppet goes through a set of trials using a run of assorted bad guys on his way into becoming a real boy.
Bambi - Fundamentally the entire life story of a bull in a forest doing bull things together with the nearest thing to a villain being the people who kill his mom and burn his woods, but it was not private.
Lady And The Tramp - A few puppies from other sides of the paths find true love. Obviously they're trials across the way however, the puppies are basically fully formed characters whenever they meet. The only real changes they undergo are beating their particular prejudices against others strain.
The Adventures Of fashion of narrative provides the maximum opportunity to explore unique societies and lifestyle experiences and are the most enlightening. Unfortunately, a fantastic man fighting a bad man provides a joy, is a lot easier to compose and gets the maximum financial possibility.
