Devilman Vol.2 OVA - The Demon Bird Review

Synopsis

Devilman Vol.2.The Demon Bird occurs a couple of years following the initial OVA Volume, The Birth. Akira Fudou is currently from high school plus a few years old. His very best buddy Ryou Asuka has recovered from his almost fatal wounds.
Akira is enticed to the demon, Jinmen's hideaway simply to be tortured by him. Jinmen stuns Akira together with the fact he ate and killed his parents.
After ripping apart the demon Jinmen, Akira is ambushed in his temporary home where he resides with the family of his girlfriend, Miki Makimura.
Akira conserves Miki from an assault with a demon made from water named Ghelmer. It is not long until Akira's bird such as demon antagonist, Sirene arrives to combat Devilman into the death.
The Overview
Devilman Vol.2 OVA - The Demon Bird is considerably improved over its predecessor, The Birth. The character and narrative development has been introduced in the first OVA volume. Devilman The Demon Bird gets directly to the stage with all the actions and dread starting straight away.
The animation seems a whole lot better because this anime has been released in 1990. The characters appear more older and do not have that 80's type cutesy anime style to them. Vol.2 has a far darker anime design to it.
Akira Fudou no longer resembles an innocent child and today is buffed up and ready to kick butt. The cartoon although great for now pales compared to the current.
I also enjoy that the demons featured in Devilman Vol.2 OVA - The Demon Bird appears more dreadful than at the initial one.The turtle such as amphibious demon, Jinmen is very creepy looking. His shell is coated with all the faces of people he's eaten and tortures their trapped spirits.
The harpy appearing Sirene looks very cool. She's a naked body of a lady covered with white bird feathers. Her mind comes with a antenna and large wings. She has enormous bird toes with talons for hands/feet.
The battle scenes are much more extreme as limbs are ripped apart with gore and blood spraying all around the area. There's some short character growth for Akira's competition, Sirene from the anime.
She's a grudge to settle with Akira/Devilman, since she hates some demon who combines with an individual. She wishes to make an example out of him by murdering him.
Devilman's struggle from the second half of this OVA with Sirene The Demon Bird is quite extreme, brutal, as well as entertaining. Devilman utilizes his flying capability in this one because he participates Sirene in conflict in the heavens.
They move back and forth at a slugfest since they lose a great deal of blood and a number of limbs. I am not going to let you know the end, however, Devilman meets his game with all the Sirene demon.
The hair metal music in the initial one makes its recurrence and a few sadness background music is added too to the OVA.
The one thing I found disappointing with this follow up is that Ryou Asuka does not get much screen time. This is a quick paced action packed anime you won't get tired watching.
A word of caution it's not for kids because it's profanity, nudity, and a great deal of graphic violence.
Devilman is a trendy anti-hero as well as the fun anime series and OVA's create the anime he is featured in cult classics.
