My grandchildren are constantly watching television over at my house. Ostensibly, my children have forgotten the joys of cartoons and won't let them observe much at home. My grandchildren are my joy and I love to watch them after they get out of school.

The few weeks ago, I turned my TV on and it wouldn't come on. The red LED in front just kept flashing until it went out and the "Lamp" light turned on. Oh great, my hubby had just took off on a military deployment and now I am without TV. I instantly logged onto my computer to type my hubby, who just insisted we buy a LCD HDTV three years ago.

My mom and dad have been watching the same television for the last ten years. It's one of those ugly big floor models and surprisingly enough, it still ticks. They have cable but only the local channels. If they weren't huge television viewing fans, I wouldn't care their TV is as old as the hills but they watch it all day long. They follow "The View" in the morning, Jeopardy in the daytime and then The Late Show at night all on their 70s television.

If you are a music buff or simply enjoy music, chances are you are already in possession of some sort of a music system. Gone are the days when we had to laboriously wind up the gramophone or put the needle on the exact spot on the record-player and when we were traveling we had to be content with a good old portable radio. Home video cameras used to be something which only a very few people could afford, and then only the super fit could carry around with them for very long at a time, since the cameras themselves were bulky and heavy, and the batteries and other equipment were very nearly like carrying a case full of bricks around with you.Today it is an entirely different story, with camcorders being no bigger in some cases than a standard 35mm camera, and even some as small as a phone.

I know my mom and dad recollect when they got their first television back when they were young. I grew up with television, so I don't truly know what it's like to not have one, but I can say I know what it's like to get a brand new HD TV. Just why did I bother with getting a new television? Didn't my old one work just fine? Well, I thought it did, until I bought my new large screen HD TV.
